New Moon Posters & Eclipse Posers

Twi-hards everywhere are torn. On the one hand they want to squeal with excitement that three brand spanking new posters from The Twilight Saga - New Moon have been released. On the other hand, they are picking apart every aspect of the pictures judging and criticising and taking it all far too seriously.

OMG - I can't believe Jacob isn't in the first poster. How could they do that? The whole movie is ruined. Exclamation Point!

OMG can you believe how completely and totally unscary the Volturi look? And don't even get me started on Jane's blond hair. In the bible (sorry, the book) she had brown hair. Why didn't they make Dakota put on a wig. The movie is ruined. Exclamation Point! Underline! Exclamation Point!

OMG finally Rosalie looks halfway pretty, but can you believe how bad Alice looks. God they should have cast Actress X, Y or Z in this role. She is totally going to ruin the movie.

What is up with Edward & Bella - that looks more like an Eclipse embrace not a New Moon embrace. Stupid Summit! When will they learn to consult each and every fan before they do anything as important as print a poster. Maybe we should start a petition. I'll get the Edward and Bella Stationary. Be right back, okay?

Maybe I am exaggerating just a titch, but honest to Betsy at least half of the statements above were written today about a couple of posters. Ugh. It is a movie poster kids. Deal with it.

I like them.

I am feeling a tad anti Twi-hard right now. It's kinda strange. I have always been on the Twi-hards are not as crazy as everyone thinks bandwagon since the beginning of all this. And I still am - for the most part. There are just a couple of things that have been on my mind that I think it is time to let it all out.

What I find so interesting - and at the same time completely infuriating - in all of the frenzy about Twilight and it's stars is that the uber fans (who may or may not be certifiable) have no problem heaping vitriol on the Photogs, but they think it is perfectly okay for them to interrupt someone while they are eating, shopping or generally trying to have some semblance of a normal life. You know the photogs can't go into a restaurant or stores to hassle these kids right? That they would be kicked out immediately if they tried to interrupt them?

Go to the set. hang out there forever. Stalk the f*cking set. But when these people whom you all so desperately try to protect from the paparazzi are trying to have dinner, how about you try leaving them the f*ck alone. Especially if you have already had your photo taken with them. How many photos do you need of yourself with Kellan Lutz?

I hear your retorts: Oh they don't mind. Oh I am respectful of them. Oh I am not like one of the dirty paps. Pfft. Whatever gets you through the night sweetheart! Just because you are not getting paid for these photos does not make what you are doing any more morally acceptable.

Of course they say they don't mind - they are actors. It is their job to not mind. You are the reason they are famous. I get that. And I am sure they completely appreciate the fandom. But don't you think it would be nice, for once, for them to be able to enjoy a meal without someone going up to them? Don't you think it would be respectful to not go to a restaurant that you know they go to? Wouldn't it be swell to let them have some privacy while they are here. Especially since most of you are all so "down with the Paps"

Just to clarify, it is not just the photogs in Vancity numbers that have increased during the filming of Eclipse. It is also the number of regular folks who are stalking not only the sets, but also the places they think the cast will be. And it is this combination that is making the experience of filming Eclipse a lot harder for the cast - particularly Rob and Kristen. I mean, they are both virtual prisoners in their hotels. And you wonder why?

I really don't know why I felt the need to vent this. And I know, only about 4 people read this, so I am not that concerned about the hate from the very twi-hards that I am writing about. I am sure you are all very nice people. I am sure you are not at all crazy.

Dazed & Confused - Kristen Stewart

As the media machine surrounding The Twilight Saga's New Moon ramps up, rest assured that we will be seeing the movies young stars on the covers of every magazine their respective teams can book them on. Kristen is gracing the cover of the September issue of British style mag "Dazed & Confused". I know, I know. Insert joke about her stoner reputation here. Everyone else already has. Ugh. When will people let this go. She is 19 years old. Are people honestly surprised that she may or may not smoke weed? And who cares?

This interview seems to focus on everything except Twilight to which I say yay! Kristen has a slew of other movies in the works - such as the Jake Scott directed Welcome to the Riley's and her oft documented role as Joan Jett in the rock biopic The Runaways. While I am looking forward to New Moon (duh), I actually can't wait to see "Welcome to the Rileys". And The Yellow Handkerchief (with William Hurt, Maria Bello and Eddie Redmayne). That one needs distribution I believe. So it may sit on a shelf somewhere for a while.......

Welcome to the Rileys was filmed just before the release of Twilight and also stars James Gandolfini and Academy Award nominee Melissa Leo. In the film Kristen plays a teenage prostitute stripper. A far cry from the virginal Bella Swan right? Says Kristen of her character: "She’s just really broken and she needs to be put back together, and she needs this guy. James Gandolfini plays this plumber who is grieving the loss of his daughter and is dead inside as well, so she is sort of the catalyst of his awakening and subsequent reuniting with his wife, like she comes out of the house after 8 years. Like this vulgar really fully kid who has her own problems greater than theirs ends up helping to get them to a place where they can continue their lives. It was the greatest experience on a movie I have ever had." I have read the script for this movie and this looks like it is going to be a gritty, dark and awesome. I can't wait for Kristen to show us what she can do! As an actor, not as a prostitute stripper, cause eww.

As always it is a candid Kristen who talks about the pitfalls of fame and the challenges that she in particular seems to have with her own press. “Anything you say can come and bite you in the ass. It’s not even like you say things you don’t mean, it’s just that sometimes they come out wrong.”

When speaking of the paparazzi and the press in general she explains: "It’s so scary because your persona… and I guess I now have one, because people think of me in a certain way… is all based entirely on quick snippets of crazed moments in your life. And that is what people then base their entire opinion of me on!” Which for her is so very true. She doesn't smile a ton and is overwhelmed by the sudden attention of Twi-hards, so she is ungrateful and hates her fans. She is styled to be kind of petulant and moody in a photo shoot - so she is a pot head.

Kristen looks amazing in these shots right? These are total gorgeosity. Especially the black and white one where her arms are crossed over herself. Love it, love it, love it.

Stewart is already hard at work here in Vancity as production on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse continues. According to Lainey Gossip, there are at least 20 photogs in town whose sole purpose is to get pics of Rob and Kris together. So sad. Vancouver used to be pretty much a paparazzi free zone, where stars could wander the streets freely. Sadly, it is not to be this time around. Rob and Kristen are basically prisoners in their hotel rooms which is sad. Vancouver is a beautiful city and it would be nice if they were able to enjoy it a little. Case in point: even a task as mundane as a wig fitting attracted about 20 photogs today. And is that 4 bodyguards? Gah! I hope not.

I know I am a hypocrite. Decrying the evil Paps, but posting their photos. I realise the absurdity of this.

Pap's in the City - Eclipsing Their Down-Time

During the filming of New Moon in the spring, the cast was able to wander around Vancouver relatively unscathed by the paparazzi. None of the big LA agencies had sent photogs to Hollywood-North to try and get shots of the cast out and about in the city. Punk'd images were pretty much the only crew around and they were in pretty tight with Lainey Gossip

This time round however, it is a whole different ball game. At least 2 other agencies are currently in town, hoping to catch a glimpse of stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart "together" - preferably f*cking on the sidewalk, but they will settle for hand holding, making out or even standing next to each other.\

Twi-hards everywhere are now faced with a very interesting dilemma. And if I am completely honest, I am a little torn also. While I am interested in seeing photos of the cast and crew enjoying my fabulous city, I feel kinda bad for them that they can't really have any down time while they are here. Yes these photos are an invasion of privacy, but isn't that just the downside of fame? I can keep talking in circles or just admit that I am an asshole for posting these. I can accept that.

Last night, the cast headed to Miku, a fairly new Japanese restaurant in the Business District that I have yet to try out. It is seriously 2 blocks from my office and I think we are working with them on an event in October so I will get to check out their food then. I know they have also been to Cin-Cin which is one of the better Italian restaurants in the city - and has some awesome private rooms. I am sure that will be a big selling feature on any restaurant the cast goes to.

In the Entertainment Weekly article I wrote about the other day, Kristen talked about the "tricks" she uses to escape the paps.... switching cars in underground parking lots etc. Nothing new there, I think many celebrities do it. Thankfully the Hotel they are staying in for Eclipse comes complete with multiple entrances and an underground parkade so hopefully they will be able to get out and about while in the city fairly easily.

I gotta say, Xavier is kinda cute. A little clean-cut, but cute none the less! I will definitely have no problem watching him get seduced by Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) and also getting his ass kicked by Seth (?) in Eclipse.

Kings of Leon Concert for me tonight. So f*cking excited. Love them so hard. Added possible bonus: the cast are fans, so you never know! I will be tweeting any fun things so follow follow follow!
