NPH to host the Emmy's = All kinds of Awesome

I love Neil Patrick Harris. I want him to be my gay best friend. He would be an awesome gay BFF. Word is he is currently in negotiations to host the Emmy Awards this September. He has to do it. The Emmy people need to give him whatever he wants. I mean, I know would not be hard to improve on last year's cluster f*ck of reality TV hosts in the round, but NPH at the Emmy's. The man is pretty, and witty (and Gay - natch). He can sing people, he can sing well. Below is his amazing closing number at this years Awards.

Before his heavily praised hosting gig at the Tony's this year, NPH starred in last years web sensation Dr. Horrible's Sing-along-Blog. Created by the genius Joss Whedon and also starring Felicia Day (The Guild) and Nathan Fillion (Firefly, BTVS, Castle) this 45 minute interweb movie got me through the writers strike last year. I not only bought it off i-Tunes, I also purchased the DVD when it came out a few weeks ago. "Brand New Day" is one of my fave's from the movie. Random use of the word Australia always win's points with me.

Emmy Peeps, give him anything. It will be worth, it trust me.

Vagina Virgin is Getting Hitched Ya'll

The oldest Jonas Brother is swapping his purity ring for a wedding ring. 21 year old Kevin Jonas couldn't take the dry humping and occasional game of just the tip anymore (only on very special occasions) and proposed to his equally sexually frustrated girlfriend Danielle Deanasa, 22. The couple have been dating since May 2007. I am surprised he waited that long! Kevin apparently showed up on her new Jersey doorstep the morning after their second Vancity concert, dropped down on one knee and presented Danielle with a cushion cut ring that he designed himself. According to People.com, Kevin stated that "she said Yes, yes, yes superfast like 500 times in a row". Isn't that nauseating?

I honestly wish them well. I hope that they stay together forever, have enough children to start a Partridge Family style band, and when they die they get to sit on white fluffy clouds together in Heaven and mock those of us burning in Hell. But I worry. What if the vagina is simply not for him? I mean he has nothing to compare it to but what if, on his wedding night, he realises, you know what, I don't really like vagina, I think I wanna give penis a shot? What if he is the gay Jonas brother - you do know that one of them is gay right? That is how it is in all boy bands. I think it may be written in their contracts. One is gay and at least one goes to rehab.
This post is why I will be burning in Hell.

Kristen & Rob - Hard at Work

Not everyone had Canada Day off eh?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were hard at work on opposite sides of the US today on their respective movies - The Runaways and Remember Me respectively.

Kristen & co-star Dakota Fanning looked like they were having fun in LA knocking over garbage cans & jumping on the hoods of cars for their roles as Joan Jett & Cheri Currie in the biopic of the first all girl rock'n'roll band. I am loving the looks for this movie. Can we talk about Dakota's boots for a second? Amazingness. And I do love how Kristen is still in her Chucks (or the 70's equivalent at least). Apparently Tatum O'Neall has joined the cast playing Dakota's mother - she should be quite the authority on teen-angst bullsh*t.

Rob on the other hand showed up on the set bruised and bloody again - an not due to crazy twi-hard fans. I still haven't read the script, but this seems to be quite the heavy role and I hope that he can pull it off. I haven't seen him in anything except Harry Potter and Twilight, so really don't have that much to go on as it relates to his acting chops. But Little Ashes is playing in Vancity at the moment and I may try and go see it. In the meantime enjoy the photos and remember - the cast will be back in my town mid August to begin work on Eclipse. They were left alone for the most part when they were here, so they are probably looking forward to being back here.

The one on the bottom left is from the weekend, but I could not resist the hawtness.
Enjoy the pics of them on set while you can. I don't think the set of Eclipse will be quite as accessible. Lots of night shoots, interiors and deep in the middle of no-where meadows to keep the paps and the twi-hard crazy's away.

Hilary Duff heading to the Upper East Side

Lizzie McGuire is joining the cast of Gossip Girl this fall - one of my fave guilty pleasures. Debuting in October for a multi-episode arc, Hilary will play a movie star who in an attempt to have a normal college experience, ends up room mates with Vanessa (Jessica Szhor). I am expecting some form of dramarama to ensue

Hmmmm. This could be good. But with the whole Georgina Sparks cliffhanger at the end of last season, does Gossip Girl really need another chick in the mix - even if it is only for a few episodes. It would be nice to see some more testosterone on the show - unless it means less screen time for my dirrty man, Ed. Anything that takes away screen time from Mr Chuck Bass is bad.

With Hilary joining the cast the possibility of a Partridge Family style musical extravaganza increases even more. Leighton Meester (Blair) has an album coming out in the fall, Ed Westwick is in a Punk Band called The Dirty Youth and even Little J (Taylor Momsen) is showing her versatility as a performer with her band The Pretty Reckless opening for Aussie group The Veronicas this summer. Below is Leighton's single with Cobra Starship - Good Girls Go Bad. Be warned, this song in amazingly addictive. Not necessarily amazing, but it is super super addictive. Enjoy! I am sure it is not as exciting as her rumoured sex tape. Isn't it convenient that the sex tape came out weeks before this single? Convenient & Interesting.

Harry Potter Countdown Continues

Only 2 weeks to go until Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince opens. I know, I know, I need to find something else to harp on about. But I can't help it. So looking forward to this movie. Although it is not one of my favourite of the books, I have a feeling it will translate very well onto the big screen. In case you haven't seen it, here is the trailer. The movie open on July 15th. You must go and see it.

Couldn't you just die? Aren't these amazing and wonderful. I love how some of the "minor" characters - such as Draco, Luna, Ginny and even Snape are getting their props in these posters. I kinda wish there was a Neville poster. That would make me do the happy! And the one of Harry & Ginny. Yay! OMFG the waiting for this is so hard. Ugh. I still say that patience is so totally overrated as a virtue.

Emma Watson will be gracing the cover of Elle UK's August edition & again, she looks flawless. In the accompanying article Emma reveals that she will be attending Columbia University in the fall and hopes to "fade into the background" for a while. While she doesn't definitively say nada to continuing her acting career, it seems as though Ms Watson is going to spend the next few years at least focused on having some semblance of a normal life. Kudos to her. Again I say, what is so different in the UK that their childhood stars seem so grounded and normal? I am sure that there are some salacious stories out there, but the three stars of Harry Potter seem to have kept out of the spotlight. It kind of makes me lurve the HP movies even more!

She looks amazing right?
Okay, off to watch Real World Cancun. Horny, slutty beach-clad bimbos and himbos unite!

Can't We All Just Leave him Alone (or at least get our facts straight?)

Michael Jackson has been gone for less than a week and I swear I have heard just about every rumour possible about his life, his death and his after-life. The collective we can't seem to get enough of the King of Pop. Those who ridiculed and condemned him in his life are clambering back up on the bandwagon.

Here are just a few of the rumours that have been swirling around in the days since MJ's passing:

Debbie Rowe never gave up her parental rights and the Jackson family were ready to fight tooth and nail fro custody.

Debbie Rowe and Michael were not the biological parents of either Michael Jr or Paris and Michael was not the biological father of "Blanket"

Instead, long-time dermatologist Arnold Klein was the biological parent and/or he was supplying Michael with drugs up until the time of his death

Michael died of a drug overdose

Neverland will be turned into a memorial - much like Graceland

Not only did Michael not father his children, he also failed to file any paperwork to adopt any of them.

Michael had no will.

The body was in terrible condition. Michael's hips, thighs and shoulders were riddled with injection site. He was also bald at the time of his death and had unexplained bruising on his shins and knees. This information came from a copy of the autopsy.

Michael routinely received injections of Demerol

Michael had a number of wills.

There will be a public memorial at Neverland Ranch on the Weekend.

Lidocaine was found near the body and Propofol, a powerful anaesthetic, was found in the home and had been injected through an IV before Jackson died

There will not be a public memorial at Neverland Ranch on the Weekend.

His former nurse routinely pumped his stomach after Michael ingested a combination of drugs.

The "fact" that Jackson had numerous injection sites on his body indicates he had a drug problem. Therefore, any Doctor who prescribed Jackson drugs could conceivably be guilty of criminal manslaughter as it is defined as a reckless disregard for human life

Okay, have I covered everything? Sadly no. There are countless stories making their way around the interweb and I have not even covered the tip of the iceberg here. Ugh to the media reporting all of this as "fact". You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I will end this post by including a video tribute from the "Dancing Inmates" circa 2007

Happy Canada Day Ya'll

I learnt the Canadian National Anthem at GM Place, watching the Canucks play hockey. A guy I used to work with would arrange for 20 or so of us to go to 2-3 games a year. This was back when Vancity didn't care about the Canucks quite as much. We only paid about $30 per ticket. Nosebleeds at The Garage, but who cared?

But that is where this Aussie girl learned "Oh Canada". Truth be told I thought it was "We stand on God for thee" for many years. I was drunk at most of the games, so if that is the only mistake, I say Go Me. I generally don't do much for Canada Day..... or any organised Holiday really. Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years Eve, Birthdays.... not a fan of any of them. According to one of my friends, I spent my 30th birthday crying in my office. I don't remember, I have blocked it out.

Why do I love Canadialand? How could you not love a country whose National Anthem is a beaver? A country that has Universal Health care, Poutine & Gun Control. Canada has real have seasons - it snows in the winter and is sunny in the summer. Canadian cities are consistently and continually voted amongst the most liveable and best in the world. I love Canada because we love our gays and would love for you to come on up and get married here.

This is poutine, it is fantastic if made well. Delish!

We do not take ourselves too seriously, and don't mind when young back-packing Americans sew Maple leaves onto their packs. A Canadian invented Basketball, telephones, television, the electric light bulb and the zipper. Canada has 2 official languages and we have one province (that's a State for all you foreign-type people)that seriously wants to be their own country and we love them anyways (well some of us).

I love Canada because The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, SNL & Arrested Development would not have been the same without the Canadians that made & make these shows amazing: Samantha Bee, Jason Jones, Lorne Michaels, Martin Short, Dan Akroyd, Phil Hartman, Mike Myers, Norm MacDonald, Will Arnett, Michael Cera. And that list doesn't even include John Candy, Robin Williams, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Rick Moranis, Jim Carrey, Dave Foley & the rest of the Kid in the Hallers. Peter Jennings, Michael J Fox & Alex Trebeck are all Canadian. As is William Shatner. Not sure whether that is something to be proud of?

I would like to apologise on behalf of all Canadians for Nickelback. Yes I know, they suck balls. Please forgive us. When you think of Canadian music please consider Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Healey, Alanis Morissette, Neil Young, Sarah McLaughlin, Paul Anka, Feist, Our Lady Piece or even Celene Dion instead. Thank you.

So that is just a few reasons why I love my adopted country. I would stand on guard for thee.
