It seems like Sarah Michelle Gellar has been pregnant forever doesn't it? Hard to believe that it was only April when Buffy the Vampire Slayer announced that she was knocked up with her first child. And then we had to contend with many many photos, scrutinising every angle, trying to figure out how far along she was. I had a feeling it was an any day now kind of thing.
After being spotted out and about late last week attending her regular Pilates class, SMG snuck off to hospital on Saturday and finally had her little bundle of joy. Peoplemagazine is reporting that Sarah Michelle and husband Freddie Prinze welcomed daughter Charlotte Grace on Saturday. "The family is over the moon" said a representative for SMG.
Love the name. Not that I have a problem with some of the more wacky celebrispawn names out there.... Sparrow, Suri, Bronx, Kingston etc. It is just that Charlotte Grace is such a classic, beautiful and classy name! Well played Buffy (Sarah), well played!!
This is a notoriously press-shy couple. I am not sure if we will see baby Charlotte Grace out and about any time soon. Maybe they will release a family image to stave off the prying photogs. I hope so!
Congrats and much love go out to the Prinze family (Sarah Michelle changed her name to Prinze a little while ago, but I can't give up the Gellar - she will always be SMG to me)

A small part of me had hoped that at Comic Con we would get a glimpse of the Volturi in one of the scenes, but I guess the whole Edward-Bella-Jacob triangle is what all the kids wanna see. Thankfully, some intrepidsupersleuth of the interwebs has procured this image of the Volturi Leaders - Alec, Marcus and Caius and their Guard - Jane & Alec. If these prove to be real (and considering Summit apparently asked some of the sites to take them down, I am thinking these are the real deal)...... I am totally stoked. I love it. Epic win in my opinion.
The Volturi are a very small, but very important part of the Twilight saga and twi-hard crazy's everywhere have been very very vocal in any and all casting decisions. These images will hopefully pacify them. One thing I can see the crazy's going bat s*it over is the fact that it seems that Dakota Fanning, in the pivotal role of Jane, kept her blonde hair. Oh the horror! Changing the color of a relatively minor character's hair. You have totally ruined the entire series. *stamping foot & running out of the room weeping and wailing*

She will probably be on screen for about 10 minutes at the most. I think they look awesome and from what I have read from the variety of set visits that took place in Vancouver, they are going to kill it as the Vampire Royalty.
I have been a huge Robert Downey Junior fan since, like, forever. I have even gone so far as to declare to anyone who would listen that were my shriveled, rotting womb to miraculously decide to want to bear fruit, a boy would be named Joshua after his character Less Than Zero. And yes, I am completely aware that Joshua was a drug addicted male prostitute who OD'd at the end of the movie. It is either Joshua or Dylan (only 25% due to Dylan McKay from the original 90210).

Can I just start off by saying that Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin are completely and absolutely adorable - little smiles and leaning into each other. Stephen is much better looking to me in real life - with a tan, and his hawt accent. And Alex..... sigh. He is hot whether he is blonde or not, American accent or not. He can do no wrong. I would like to see the Swedish porn version of True Blood he was talking about.... *wink*.
The triangle between Eric, Sookie & Bill is going to be explored further this season. Not sure how kinky it gets in the books, but is anyone else hoping for a threesome? I know I am - wait is that totally wrong? Oh whatever. It would be hawtness.
Season 3 will include werewolves and Mississippi Vampires - and no half-vampire half-human hybrids (a not very subtle Twilight dig?). Also, the character of "Bubba" - much beloved in the books - will not be appearing in the books at this point as Alan Ball thinks it would be to "cheesy" - something about Elvis?
There are at least 3 more books coming down the pipeline from Charlaine Harris. I have not read them and have yet to decide if I will. Are they good? Are they full of hot dirty vampire sex? Cause if there is not hot dirty vampire sex, I don't know if I wanna read another book about celibate vampires. Cause the whole idea of vampires is pretty much sex in my opinion and there is already one book series on the market that is far too PG for me.
The rest of the season looks crazy sexy cool and I can't wait to sink my teeth into it (yes, I am just that lame). Oh and True Blood - the drink - will be available for the Season Finale - no actual blood in it - natch.
This year is the very last year that Lost will have a Panel at Comic Con. I am pouting as I type this. It was Fan Appreciation at the Lost panel as show runners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindeloff put the final 2 pages of the Series Finale in a locked box to be opened on Jimmy Kimmel the night the finale airs. Love these dudes. They really appreciate the fans and it is so evident in watching the panel.
Best news ever: Many characters that we have not seen for a while will be back! Can we get a Charlie in the house please. Srsly. Please. Considering Dominic made a surprise appearance at the panel, he better f*cking show up. It will probably be the Polar Bear though. Balls.
Season 6 will be different from previous seasons. No time travel. No Flash Forward. Less Dharma. More like Season 1 with the running through the jungle. No real hints though. Bastards. As usual, we know very very very little. And from the little nuggets they did give us, there is so much my mind can infer. Did the fact that the word "Clare" was the mystery word that resulted in the only prize being given out mean something huge? And that the prize included the note that Claire attached to the seagull? Is Claire super important to Season 6? WTF? How am I gonna wait until next year.
But, did the timeline change? Was Jack's plan successful? If they succeeded, did the plane never crash? Then why would they be running through the jungle more? The clips below implies that it may be so? But this video may just be a filthy lie designed to keep us all very very confused. Gah. It is working already. My brain hurts.
Jorge Garcia (Hurley) showed up in the audience to ask a question..... apparently he has no idea what is going on either. Love it. Then Michael Emerson (Creepy awesome Ben) showed up to mock Jorge. So fricking cool. Their banter was so good.
We will get a Richard Alpert backstory. BTW I hearted Nestor Carbonell and his entrance. BTW again, he does wear eyeliner. Faraday and Juliet will both be in Season 6. As will Boone. In what capacity we don't know. Apparently Juliet's "survival" will be contingent on whether Jack's plan worked.
I am not going to enjoy the almost 6 month wait until the final season of Lost airs. Balls.
A little off topic: It seems to be a theme of Comic Con to mock Heroes (which they did in both the Dollhouse and Lost Panels) .... The mocking has made me realise something. Something I think I have known for a while, but haven't had the courage to acknowledge to anyone, let alone myself. I think my relationship with Heroes just isn't working anymore. It was good while it lasted, but the past 2 seasons it just hasn't given me what I need and want in a TV show. So, I think I am gonna break up with Heroes. I am sure that Heroes will be okay. They don't need me. Well, they do kinda, but whatever. They suck.
In honour of my 100th Post, it is fitting that I dedicate this to the subject of quite a number of my previous ramblings - and it is not the hawtness of Robert Pattinson. It is the Hawtness of Joss Whedon. Friday's at Comi Con seem to have morphed into Joss appreciation day. Thousands of fans turned up to see Joss and listen to him speak today and the Dollhouse Panel proved as popular as anything Joss related. From what I have gleaned from the interwebs two very exciting things were revealed.
First off both Summer Glau and Alexis Denisof will be appearing in season 2. Buffy and Angel alum Alexis will be appear in multiple episode. Can you say awesome? Yay! No word on who his character is except that he will "cross blades" with Eliza Dushku's Echo. Joss works with people he like, and loves to bring them back into the fold. Kinda like the whole Ridley Scott-Russell Crowe or Tim Burton-Johhny Depp thing. I think most Whedon alumni answer the phone saying "yes Joss, whatever you want". I can't wait to see this next season.
Secondly, they aired the uber-dark & twisty episode 13 - Epitaph. Holy mother of Joss. Far too much to recap in this. Basically, from the review I read, this is akin to the Season 3 finale of BSG - everything you thought you knew - you didn't and nothing will ever be the same. I know that I am going to be at the store on Tuesday to pick up my Season 1 DVD which contains Episode 13 (and the original Pilot). Joss is a mad genius and I worship at his altar. I am such a dork. He even managed to throw in a not so subtle dig at season 2 of Heroes, when they ill advisedly sent Masi Oki's character back to feudal Japan.
No word yet on whether there will be a followup to the Emmy nominated and hi-larious Dr Horribles sing-a-long blog. Apparently the team is talking about it, but nothing has been written yet.
Season 2 of Dollhouse will air on Fox on September 25th (I think, some sites say it is earlier)

Further evidence of why it sux balls that I am not in San Diego right now is the Dexter Panel. Season 4 of Dexter starts in just two months and I was beyond excited to learn that the big bad in this season is John Lithgow - as the Trinity Killer. Mother F*cker. John F*cking Lithgow as a the most prolific serial killer in history. Genius. He will be amazingness. Total amazingness. I cannot wait.
Lithgow appeared at the Panel and revealed that he has yet to film any scenes with his castmates, and that his characters first victim was High Commander Dick Solomon (his character on 3rd Rock from the Sun). He he he. What I loved is that he let it slip that he knows the story arc for the entire season! "I'm the only person on the set who knows what is going to happen in all 12 episodes. I could speak two sentences right now that would make this entire building explode." He is such a f*cking tease. I love him.
My absolute favourite serial killer - Dexter Morgan himself - appears to be struggling a little this season as he adjusts to marriage, fatherhood and his new life in the suburbs. Balancing that with his "dark passenger" is going to provide some dark and funny moments this year. Love how he talks to his newborn son about killing people! I love this show.

One of my favourite shows on TV is AMC's Mad Men. And one of my favourite characters on Mad Men is Betty Draper, the seemingly perfect wife of John Hamm's Don Draper. She is the perfectly dressed, perfectly coiffed, icy blond blue eyed housewife who is continually on the edge of cracking.
Betty is played by the curiously named January Jones. What is curious is that is her actual name. No stage name required. She was named after a character in one of Jacqueline Sussan's trashier novels - Once is Not Enough. January is gracing the August cover of Interview Magazine (coincidentally the same issue that has the interview with Twilight's Taylor Lautner), and her interview for the article is done by the great and amazing Jack Nicholson (at Jones' request). The two appeared together in 2003's Anger Management.
I find the idea of actors interviewing fellow actors very intriguing. I think they can pull a lot more out of an interviewee than a typical journalist. They know how to pull answers out and how to turn a question to elicit a more telling response.
Jones speaks about how she would have been "rebellious" if she had lived back then, and how she has little in common with her character or the way Betty handles things. Says Jones: "With her, it’s all a facade. It’s interesting, though, that in terms of education, marriage, jobs—women are still not where they should be. Women still get paid less. Women still . . . [laughs] whatever. But even though things are better now than they were before, I think women of my generation take a lot for granted.....Things like getting to go to an Ivy League school, getting work as a high-powered businesswoman or as a studio executive. Anything you would think."
Jones is also candid about her start in the modelling industry and how naive she was when she moved to new York from South Dakota, not knowing a soul and quickly learning to "shut down" as she figured out the way things worked. So sad and adorable that she ordered a "pop" at a pizza joint and they looked at her like she was crazy for using the word pop.
I like this girl. She completely acknowledges that a large part of her success is luck. She also is not one to rest on her success. She is one of the stars of one of the most successful and critically acclaimed shows on the air, yet rather than feel "safe" she knows that the fight still continues. I am hopeful that her love of Tyra Banks & ANTM is like my of Twilight. I know it is bad for me and making me a little less intelligent every time I read about it or watch it, but I just can't help myself.
Season 2 of Mad man was released on DVD today, Season 3 airs on AMC beginning August 16th.
You know when you see a movie or read a book and you never ever want it to end? Where you wish it could go on forever? Well that is what happened today when I finally saw Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince.
There were a few false starts - we were supposed to go on Friday, which got changed to Saturday. I left someone else with the fun task of getting the tickets and they waited too long and it was sold out. And people wonder why I often prefer going to the movies by myself? The important thing is that I saw it.
A-maz-ing. Fantastical. Pick another superlative and slot it in. Cause that is how good it was. This was not my favourite of the books. Although there were some major plot points (ie Dumbledore being killed and learning about Horcruxes), I always felt that this book was kind of a "filler" - all leading up to the final book. But this movie was so good and was the perfect balance of teenage angst and moving the story forward.
I have the same problems as many have with this film. Why did Harry just stand there when Dumbledore was killed? It doesn't make sense. Harry is a Gryffindor - brave and stalwart and loyal - even if he was told by Dumbledore (& Snape) to do nothing, why would he have listened? It doesn't ring true and I would like to hear an explanation from someone as to why this happened.
Minor things though, that do not diminish the fabulosity of the movie. Alan Rickman is sublime. Noone can enunciate the way that man does. Or sweep out of a room or down a staircase. He is the perfect Severus Snape. I know that a movie like this doesn't garner awards in Hollyweird, but i truly feel that his performance is Award worthy. The same could be said of Jim Broadbent. His portrayal of Professor Slughorn was perfection. And as always, there are no words for Helena Bonham Carter as the maniacal Bellatrix Lestrange.
The younger cast members were dealing with their own issues during the movie, which was just as much about the perils of teen romance as it was about the eternal battle between good and evil. Jessie Cave as Lavender Brown was hysterical. She captured the crazy stalker girlfriend perfectly.
The heart of this story for me though, is and always will be the relationship between Harry, Ron & Hermoine and these three young actors have shown so much growth in the almost 10 years that they have been playing these characters. The camaraderie between them and the clear affection that they have for each other is lovely to watch. For me, Emma Watson in particular is a standout, portraying the confusion, jealousy and forbidden love for Ron with a fantastic realism and honesty.
I loved loved loved the movie. I want to see it again. And probably will at some point in the next few weeks. Loved the quidditch. Loved the teen angst bullsh*t. Loved the battle (or non-battle) between good and evil. Loved the tribute to Dumbledore when he was slain. Loved it all.
Beyond crappy that it is another year until I get to do all this again........ Booooooooooo!!!!!! That sux balls.
Yesterday was a crappy crappy day in my world. I had to make the extremely difficult decision to put my cat of 10 years to sleep. Bourbon, had been sick for a while. I found out last week that she had a growth in her stomach and she pretty much went downhill from Thursday onwards.
I have never had a sick pet before, every pet that I had was a family animal and pretty much had been run over. So to make the decision to end her life was pretty traumatic for me. What gives me the right? Am I the worst pet owner in the world? Was there even a small chance she could recover? If I spent the thousands of dollars it would cost (with a small chance it would have helped), would she have lived many more years? This is what was running through my head since Thursday of last week.
Bourbon has been the one constant in my life for the past 10 years. She has moved 3 times with me, been an indoor kitty, an outdoor kitty, a fabulous bringer of dead and half dead presents for me, and even though she wasn't a huge fan of the cuddling, I know that she loved me in her own unique Bourbon way. I have amazingly great memories of her prancing through the snow, coming to meet me either after work or when I had been out near the chalet at the top of Grouse and walking back home with me, always staying a few feet away, but keeping a close eye on me, the 10 seconds flat it took her to take care of a hummingbird, her inexplicable love of corn (yes, corn - she loved it) finding her curled up in the sink at the cabin on Grouse, and one of my favourite memories - when she f*cking growled at a deer who dared to be standing in front of "her" house.
I know I did the right thing. She was in pain and was not going to get better. But it was still a really really hard decision. The circle of life is f*cking lame. I cannot fathom coming home to an empty house. I keep looking for her and wondering where she is.
Back when they were tossing around names to be the director of The Twilight Saga's - Eclipse, one name that was tossed into the running that had people raising their eyebrows and occasionally gasping in horror. That name was Drew Barrymore. Many were furious that an actress could be considered to direct one of their beloved Twilight Saga movies. Most of these who were wailing and gnashing their teeth were probably unaware that Drew's production company - Flower Films - has produced over 10 films since 1995, including both Charlies Angels, Never Been Kissed, Music & Lyrics as well as the cult favourite - Donnie Darko.
Admittedly, Drew's directorial experience was very limited and the task of directing the action heavy Eclipse eventually went to David Slade best known for the gritty Hard Candy and the gory 30 Days of Night.
Barrymore however doesn't seem to be too upset by this news. At least she won't have to deal with the inevitable wrath of the twi-hards who are guaranteed to be upset with any director who dares to veer off the plot of the book for even a second. In addition to starting work on Going the Distance with sometimes boyfriend Justin Long in Brooklyn, she is also putting the final touches on her directorial debut - a movie I can't wait to see - Whip it!
This movie looks amazing. Ellen Page, Roller Derby, Kristen Wiig, Roller Derby, Juliette Lewis and did I mention Roller Derby? Squee!!!! There is Roller Derby in Vancity. I really need to check it out! Whip It! is due to open in October. Until then, enjoy the trailer and Whip it good!
One of the biggest bands in the world right now is The Kings of Leon. They are currently on a world tour and will be playing 2 shows here in Vancity in August. I have General Admission floor seats and am barely able to contain myself I am so excited to see them. It is a miraculous love that I have for them. A miraculous love.
There is something about Caleb Followill's voice that sears into my soul. I love them so hard. I only discovered them late last year (I don't know why it took me soo long, and I feel bad about it every day) and I fell hard and fast for these southern boys. I went down to the Sasquatch Festival at the Gorge in Washington State in May solely to see them. They are amazing and they own my musical heart right now.
It is a rare occurrence to see photos of them out and about while they are on tour, so I am taking advantage of these photos from Europe earlier this week.Here are some photos of Caleb Followill and his model girlfriend, Lily Aldridge, as well as Jared and his fiance model Alisa Torres and the rest of the band. Yes they are dating models. Of course they are. Wouldn't you if you could? Sigh.
Had a beyond crappy visit to the vets yesterday. Caleb & the boys can normally make things better, but I don't think even he can fix this one.
