Charlies Angel redux?

Apparently development executives in the world of TV have run out of any original ideas. I mean this year alone we had the Melrose Place redux, the V reimagining, and the recently cancelled Eastwick remake. And then there is also the The Jay Leno Show. Okay so Leno is not really a remake, redux or reimagining - but it is pretty unoriginal. He he he. It would seem that there are absolutely no new ideas to be found, because according to Variety ABC is *this* close to asking for a Pilot script for an updated version of Charlie's Angels.

Sigh.

Really?

This is a good idea? In whose fantasy world is a remake of a show that basically objectified women in every way imaginable a good idea? Don't get me wrong, I actually love Charlie's Angels. My favourite Angel was always Kelly Garrett (Jaclyn Smith). The way her hair was so shiny and bouncy and she was always the nice one. I kinda wanted to be her when I grew up.

I could go on about how I think this is a really really bad idea, but believe it or not, I am choosing to reserve judgment. I am gonna give the powers that be at ABC the benefit of the doubt until it is both confirmed and the cast is announced.

Casting will be key for this.

Charlie is actually easy the only one I am willing to call right now. Alan Dale. Hands down. You know him right? Alan is typically cast as the up-to-no-good father - in Ugly Betty, The OC and most recently as the nefarious Charles Widmore in ABC's Lost. I remember him as lovable patriarch Jim Robinson from Neighbours. I miss Neighbours.......

I am not comfortable calling any of the Angels yet. It depends what age they are going for. There are a ton of actors out there who could be good in the role...... The only one I am willing to admit to dreaming of is SMG.

In a perfect world my girl Sarah Michelle Gellar would come back to the small screen. That would be amazing and is likely just a dream.... But SMG has all that Buffy fight training to rely on right? And she could be either the sassy newbie or the jaded sarcastic senior Angel. I don't think it will happen. Sarah seems to be trying to distance herself from all things related to Buffy and may not wish to subject herself to the inevitable comparisons. And there is also the matter of the HBO series that she filmed in New york earlier this year. She comes with the built in Joss Whedon fanbase. Not that that is any indication of a successful series (umm.... Dollhouse or Firefly anyone?)

Other than Sarah, I can't decide......... Kristen Bell? Rachel Bilson? Summer Glau? Lindsay Price? Eliza Dushku? Dichen Lachman? Zoe Bell? Gina Torres? Amy Acker? Felicia Day? Argh. So many options! I have even read a few blogs that are saying Claire Danes. While I would love her to be back on the small screen, it would have to be in a reunion of My So Called Life instead.

Meet Charlotte Grace Prinze

Just under 2 months ago we learned that Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr had welcomed their first child - daughter Charlotte Grace - into the world. At that time, I wondered when we would get our first glimpse of this new family. Well, we had to wait just under 2 months. 2 months is not bad. And they seem to have quite the relationship with People magazine who not only broke the story of Charlotte's birth, but also have the exclusive photos and interview with the happy family.

And all I can say is OMG!!! Cuteness. She is so completely and utterly adorable. And Sarah and Freddie seemed to have settled into their new roles quite nicely. Apparently Sarah went into labour at the gym, but dismissed it as the repercussions of a spicy meal the night before. Wowsers!

In the article Sarah speaks of her "mom brain" - how she forgets everything unless it is written down, how "peaceful" Charlotte's birth was - aided in large part by the epidural she had, and how becoming a mother has helped her lose some of her Type A tendencies. Centred, grounded and peaceful are words that come up a lot in this article.

This press shy couple have been married for 7 years - and state that they chose to wait what many would consider a long time before having a family because they were too selfish in their twenties to bring a child into the world. I love this response - that they waited - not only to get the crazy selfish twenties out of the way, but to also ensure that they had a strong foundation in which to raise a family. Such old souls!

Charlotte Grace is a lucky little girl. This beautiful child has what seems like two very grounded parents who would do anything for her. I am looking forward to seeing Charlotte grow up! I am also very excited to see her daddy on the new season of 24 in January. Also can't wait for Sarah's return to TV on The Wonderful Maladys..... although their are rumours that it no longer has a home. To which I say to HBO - Boo f*cking hiss to you!

Buffy had a baby girl!

It seems like Sarah Michelle Gellar has been pregnant forever doesn't it? Hard to believe that it was only April when Buffy the Vampire Slayer announced that she was knocked up with her first child. And then we had to contend with many many photos, scrutinising every angle, trying to figure out how far along she was. I had a feeling it was an any day now kind of thing.

After being spotted out and about late last week attending her regular Pilates class, SMG snuck off to hospital on Saturday and finally had her little bundle of joy. People magazine is reporting that Sarah Michelle and husband Freddie Prinze welcomed daughter Charlotte Grace on Saturday. "The family is over the moon" said a representative for SMG.

Love the name. Not that I have a problem with some of the more wacky celebrispawn names out there.... Sparrow, Suri, Bronx, Kingston etc. It is just that Charlotte Grace is such a classic, beautiful and classy name! Well played Buffy (Sarah), well played!!

This is a notoriously press-shy couple. I am not sure if we will see baby Charlotte Grace out and about any time soon. Maybe they will release a family image to stave off the prying photogs. I hope so!

Sarah Michelle Gellar - Fashion > Comfort

Sarah Michelle Gellar met up with a few friends for lunch on Friday at the Casa Del Mar Hotel in Santa Moncia and I gotta say you go girl for wearing those heels when you are clearly very very pregnant! I personally have enough trouble ever wearing heels that high, let alone when you are about 12 months pregnant! But I am a sneaker kinda gal.

SMG is due to give birth to her first child with Hubby Freddie Prinze Jr this fall. And she looks amazing. Skinny jeans, hawt black heels - everything is a fashion win! I am very much looking forward to her popping out her little munchkin - I am sure he/she will also be a fashion do!

Sarah Michelle Gellar - doting dog owner

A few quick snaps of Sarah Michelle Gellar taking her beloved dog to it's weekly vet visit. She seems like such a devoted dog owner, I can't imagine how amazing she is going to be as a mother! Any day now I think! So excited for her and Freddy.

I also found these photos of her Baby Shower that was held earlier this month. It looked like a fun time was had by all. Co star Michelle Trachetenberg was there, as were friends Shannen Doherty, Kristen Chenoweth and good friend Lindsay Sloane. SMG looks super happy and excited about her mommy-to-be status. Can't wait until she pops her precious bundle of joy out!

I am happy that she is still friends with Michelle, who played her little sister on Buffy. I didn't know she was such good friend with either Kristen or Shannen. How amazing would it have been if Kristen had sang at the shower? She has a great voice!

Sarah Michelle Gellar out in So-Cal

A few quick snaps of Sarah Michelle Gellar out and about in So Cal this weekend. Again looking fantastic and glowing and radiant and all the other things women with child are supposed to look.

Sarah has spent the past little while back home in California after wrapping up shooting on her HBO series The Wonderful Maladies. Set in Gotham, this half hour series revolves around the lives of three siblings (SMG, Molly Parker and Nate Cordry) who lost their parents at a young age. I am very very excited to see Sarah back on the small screen, even if it is not as my beloved Buffy Summers. Sigh. Maybe one day, the stars will align and we will have out Buffy reunion.

Sarah Michelle Gellar - Buffy's Baby Shower

What to give the future child of the Vampire Slayer? A pint sized stake just seems so obvious. The stunningly pregnant Sarah Michelle Gellar had her baby shower on Saturday in So-Cal and of course she looked adorable. Sigh. Pregnancy completely suits SMG. Some women, even those totally in the public eye like SMG, look tired and schlumpy at this stage of their pregnancy. But Sarah looks fantastic!

Apparently hubby Freddie Prinze Jr was also in attendance at the shower. Not long to go now! So excited to see what she has.

Sarah Michelle Gellar - Pregnant & Fabulous

The one and only Buffy The Vampire Slayer was spotted out and about yesterday in LA on the weekend. Her adorable puppy Tyson's weekly trip to the vet in Toluca Lake was again captured on film by the ever present paparazzi. She was also spotted lunching in Malibu with good friend Lindsay Sloane.

SMG looks fantastic. She is seriously one of the best dressed preggo women I have seen in a while! I can't wait until she pops her little one out! Yay to another Buffy baby!

Sarah Michelle Gellar takes her baby bump to the Vet

If you are getting sick of the shots of SMG, I recommend going to another site ;). While there are shots of her in all her pregnant glory floating around, I will be posting them! Here are a few of Buffy trekking her her adorable Akito Tyson to the vet.

I was wondering where her hubby was while all these shots were being taken. Many shots of Buffy over the past few weeks, but none with Freddy Prinze Junior. I can't be sure, but I am guessing he is busy filming the new season of 24 in NYC? I am sure he will be back in So-Cal in time for the momentous event.

The outfit for me is a little meh. SMG is typically quite the fashionista, but this peachy frilly shirt is kinda ..... not.... for me. I much prefer the outfit she was wearing on the weekend when she was snapped at Shutters on the Beach Restaurant in Santa Monica.

Buffy's Beautiful Baby Bump

Sarah Michelle Gellar was out and about this week looking bee-yoo-tiful and very very pregnant. SMG is apparently due to give birth to her first child in the fall, but either she is having twins or she is due sooner rather than later.

I love SMG so much. She is and will always be Buffy for me! She looks beautiful and I can't wait to find out what she has! Also I wonder what she will call the baby? Will she be able to top Satyana Hannigan-Denisof in the cuteness factor? It will be hard! Satyana is most adorable!

Buffy takes her Baby Bump to Pilates

The star of my absolute favourite show, Sarah Michelle Gellar who starred for 7 seasons as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is getting ginormous. Sarah & husband Freddy Prinze Jr are expecting their first child in the fall. She looks beautiful of course! Yay!! Another baby from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer world!

Sarah has been spending a lot of time in NYC filming her new HBO series The Wonderful Maladies, which is set to air in the fall I believe. Anything that brings SMG back to any screen is a good thing in my books. A Buffy movie would be better, but I will take what I can get. I am still waiting for the Theatrical release date of "Veronika Decides to Die". SMG's husband Freddie is set to costar in the new season of 24 which is also set in New York.

On a somewhat unrelated note, from watching the "Commentary, the Musical" on "Dr Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog" did you know that SMG had a very brief cameo in this web musical extravaganza. Ch-ch-check out the photo below as proof. Apparently SMG spent a whole day on set just hanging out. That makes me do the happy. I so totally love that she is still close with Joss and the crew. That is SMG on the right, next to crazy stalker fan #3. If you have not seen Dr Horrible, umm why not?

*****Update - the interweb gods have corrected me and according to an interview Joss gave with TV Guide.com, this is not SMG. Maybe it is her doppleganger, cause it sure as sh*t looks like her right?
