Joe Jackson appeared on Larry King live last night. Right off the top, King pointed out that Joe was not paid for his appearance. It was an interesting interview. I think that Joe Jackson was attempting to make up for the trainwreck interviews he gave at the BET awards and to the Today show. He still showed relatively little emotion, not seeming upset or angry when broaching the possibility of foul play in the death of his son. Jackson started off fairly calm and coherent. About 40 minutes in though he kind of lost it and claimed that he made no mistakes in his upbringing of his children, using the fact that they were all still alive as evidence of his stellar parental skills. Srsly? That is what makes you a good parent? The fact that your children are still alive? Okay, I am coming at this as a person who does not have children. So, you know, I may be wrong. But I think there is a little more to it than that. Ugh this man makes my skin crawl.
He seemed unable to give a clear answer to any of the straightforward questions asked him by Larry King, deflecting any difficult questions to Leonard Rowe, a concert and music promoter who had worked with Michael in the past, rather than answering him themselves. Both men seem to place a lot of blame on the concert promoters - AEG - claiming that they were controlling Michael and that their was "a lot of suspicious activity surrounding Michael Jackson" in the days before his death.
Without actually accusing the employees of AEG of anything criminal, both men pretty much implied that AEG was responsible for the death of Michael Jackson. Larry did his damndest to clarify what the heck they were talking about, but to no avail. Rowe and Joe Jackson's logic was ridiculous. To say that having a Doctor in the house with a drug addict is a bad thing makes no sense. They danced around any issue, refusing to actually make an accusations save that AEG was "unethical" and were "controlling" Michael (and his money).
Joe claimed that he was cut off from his son by security, but had no answer when asked why Michael never asked to see him. Joe Jackson was very quick to back track from previous reports that he wished his grandchildren to follow in the footsteps of their famous father stating that "they have to be what they are.... kids at the moment" He also took the opportunity, when asked by King to categorically denied ever physically harming any of his children.
Joe Jackson is a snake oil salesman. He is slimy and slippery and a poor excuse for a human being. With Michael gone he is trying to get his moment in the spotlight again. No-one is there to speak for Michael or retaliate against what Joe is saying. I honestly hope that he is never allowed near Michael's children. They are going to have a hard enough time of it as it is, without the influence of this despicable human being.
He is a man who didn't seem to know his son at all. His answers were vague and non-committal and not the response of a person who is grieving for their child. F*ck me, my cat died 4 days ago and I still break down if I talk about her. This man is a world of no and should really really not be allowed near the children. Otherwise, let him talk his s*it and say what he wants. I really don't care what he has to say. There is a special place in the afterlife for a man like him.
