A Refined New Eatery in Vancity.

As I have said, one of the perks of my job is invitations to fun and fantastic events. Last night was most definitely no exception as we made our way through the never ending construction on Granville Street to the official opening of The Refinery.

Located above Sip Resto Lounge , which is known for it's booze filled cuisine, this market style eatery prides itself on minimising it's footprint. Whether it is through sourcing local ingredients, ensuring at least 50% of the wine sold is from BC, using LED lighting throughout, the reclaimed wood communal table or the bike locker available for staff, this is one restaurant that is doing more than just saying they care about the environment. They are also a member of the Oceanwise Sustainable Seafood Program.

The booze was flowing freely last night as they encouraged us all to sample their extensive wine list and some of GM Lauren Mote's award winning cocktails, complete with home made bitters. I recommend the Bourbon Sour - strong & delicious!

The food focuses on fresh local ingredients, including lots of cheeses, charcuterie and fresh breads. Great for sharing with one or many of your closest friends! There are also a number of fantastic antipasto and warm plates, with the warm items being market and seasonally determined. Again I say Delicious!

This is a great place to go with a few or a ton of people. The upscale design is by Vancouver based M-Studio and although the communal table allows you to make some new acquaintances while you eat, the tables are intimate enough for a private conversation. It is an unpretentious place to have good food, great drinks and even better conversation.
The Refinery is open 5.00pm till midnite, Tuesday to Saturday.
XO
